Warm
& Cozy Home in winters
Winter is the coldest season of the year. It occurs after
autumn and before spring in each year. It has long nights and short days as
sunset earlier and rises late in the morning. In Pakistan winter season it very
cold especially during the months of December, January and February. With cold
breezes blowing and sometimes it may rain too.
Setting in of winter for many means holing up at home,
patiently counting down the seconds until summer strikes back. While for those who take a hibernation-like
approach, there's no better time to give their home interiors a face lift. But
it does not mean that you start investing heavily in winter preparation as you
can do all this by some little twitching.
Here are few small things that you need to turn your home
into a cozy space, by adopting few if not all you can Turn Your Home into a
Winter Wonderland.
1: Get your room some False Ceiling or Shags:
With False ceiling you can get a closed and comfy look in
your rooms and they will shield the cold coming from the room ceiling. People
love the feel of it, so it really can make a space feel homey.
2: Use Scented Diffusers & Scented Candles:
Try one with soothing lavender, spicy cinnamon, or sweet
vanilla to keep the space feeling cozy and warm and helps in humidifying the
space. Scented candles could be another option that will add to coziness of
home in winters.
3: Use Technology:
Make sure you have heaters, water heating system, hot air
fans and inverter all maintained and in running order in your home before the
winter season starts.
4: Put down some area
rugs & Colorful cushions
The feeling of bare feet on a cold floor can make anyone
hate the winter. If you're eager to sidestep that all-too-common—and highly
unpleasant—sensation, try covering any uncarpeted areas of your home with plush
throw rugs and colorful cushions (from Khaddi Home etc) to make things a little more comfortable, And
it will drastically improve the overall feeling of warmth and the actual
physical warmth.
5: Go green inside
with plants:
Just because everything outside is brown or blanketed in
snow doesn't mean your house has to look drab inside, too. Bringing home a few
easy-to-care-for plants, like succulents, one study even suggests that having
indoor plants can reduce psychological stress.
In addition to these plants as winter isn't typically a
great time for gardens, bringing clippings of cold-friendly plants, like holly,
blue spruce, or pansies, or other natural elements, like pine cones, into your
home can brighten up any space in an instant—especially when they're paired
with a festive candle for extra warmth and light.
Even if adding a ton of plants to your space doesn't appeal
to you, there's an easy way to make your home cozier this winter: by building a
terrarium. Whether you use succulent clippings or fake plants, making your own
terrarium is a perfect winter weather activity that can brighten up any space
in no time.
6: Play With lights:
If you want to make your home feel cozier during those long
winter days, there's no time like the present to upgrade your lighting. By
implementing softer lighting, you will provide a warmer environment to relax in
after work.
Try to have lamps with bright light coloured lamp shade as
they will make all the difference between a home that feels cave-like in the
winter and one that feels cozy and welcoming.
Beside the lamps if you don't have a built-in fireplace,
adding a portable one to any room in the house can instantly up the coziness
factor. While it may be dark and gloomy outside, there's no reason your house
has to feel the same. Instead of turning on the overheads, a cozy home is well
within reach if you simply switch on some table lamps instead.
7: Concentrate on
Furniture, curtain and bedding:
In order to to
brighten up your space and add some much-needed warmth, "create cozy
corners and inviting vignette in your rooms and try to spruce up an empty
corner with a small-scale chair, a side-table, footstool, and floor lamp to
create… a cozy haven to retreat to. While you may have to wait a few more
months to enjoy warm weather gatherings in your backyard, there's an easy way
to make your interiors more conducive to hosting guests. Bunch seating groups
closer together to facilitate warm, intimate conversation. In the colder months pulling your furniture
away from the walls and windows helps to mitigate the effect of drafts and cold
outside.
If you want to keep your home feeling cozy and warm, it's
time to switch to a heavier fabric curtains. Thick or lined drapes in
complimentary deep tones add instant physical and psychological warmth to any
room.
Winter also means adding comfort to your bedroom in the form
of heavier textiles. Cotton flannel, velvet flannel, or heavyweight Egyptian
cotton sheets are all warm alternatives to your average thin bedding and can
make your home cozy (and your sleep a lot more comfortable) in virtually no
time.
It’s a reality that despite any intentions to leave the
house, many of your winter days will inevitably be spent indoors. With that in
mind, it's imperative to have plenty of spots to curl up with a cup of tea or a
good book. This can easily be done by adding some throw pillows.
Blanket throw are ideal for curling up on your sofa when the
temperature dips is pleasant thing. Curling up under a cozy blanket, however,
is nothing short of heavenly.
In order to have an inviting
and cozy home, add some quilted runners to your tables and bookcases—not only
will they boost your room's aesthetic appeal, they'll keep your surfaces safe
from spills and moisture marks, too.
8: Colors Add warmth:
Gloomy and dry long, gray days of winter can make even the
most vibrant home look drab in no time. With that in mind, try adding some pops
of color to your existing design scheme. Who says you need a fireplace to make
your home cozier this winter a simple grouping of candles on a coffee or buffet
table adds beautiful light and ambiance to a room.
9: Maintain and Invest In:
Repairing and upgrading old windows can not only make your
home cozy this winter, it can save you a boatload of cash along the way. Make
sure your oven is working as there are
few things like the scent of freshly-baked cookies to get you excited about
winter. If the weather's got you feeling down, try baking up a batch of gingerbread
cookies or cinnamon rolls to fill your home with a holiday.
Give a cozy feeling at the entrance of your home so buy a welcome
mat for the winter months. While the rest of your neighborhood may be gloomy
and gray, a brightly-colored winter mat means that, at the very least, your
home won't be. Further If you want to make your home cozier this winter,
install a no-shoes-inside policy and you'll not only have less cleaning to do,
you'll keep your whole family healthier.
10: Playing with Accessories:
It’s an established fact that there are few things more
enjoyable on a cold day than curling up with good book. A comfortable chair, a
reading lamp, a blanket, some pillows, and plenty of peace and quiet are all
you need to make it possible.
. Sectioning off open doorways with a tension rod and some
heavy drapes can help you keep the warm air in and the cold out and that will
make it cozier.
With ever new season some new decorations should be added on
your walls. If you're trying to make a cozy home for winter fill your walls
with large scale art, tapestries, or decorative rugs in bright or deep seasonal
tones, share happy times and memories by adding a few carefully placed,
meaningful family photos in warm wood, metal or fabric frames and intersperse
with cherished family ornaments or mementos.
Adding a few rounded accent pieces can make any room feel
cozier in seconds, adding in design pieces like round mirrors, tables, and
pillows will add a feeling of warmth indoors.
Thus in short I will say that when Old Man Winter is howling
outside, it's a good idea to add a dose of cheer to your home. Luckily, it's
easy to decorate for winter—the key is to use natural elements, touches of
greenery, a bit of shine, and the soothing hue of winter white. Thus its not just heavy warm winter clothing
and heater or fire places that will keep you warm and cozy in winter but by
