DIY AFFAIRS!! 1
Winters for me are very especial, it’s a
beautiful trip down memory lane, I always associate winters with romance, love,
kindness and joy. As the winter season starts, the social setup and socializing
habits also change (at least for myself), I crave for the warmth of my room,
cosy blankets, heaters, hot drinks with halwas, good food and good company of
close people. But then the reality of the matter is that we are social animals
and we must meet and greet. With the economic conditions going bad and prices
of everything skyrocketing I used some DIY videos for décor and actually, the
result was really good. Hence, I would
like to share with you all, how I gave my first winters dinner, and what I
learnt from the experience …
It was a small gathering of 30 people , it is very
important to select an outdoor area
which was cornered and not airy and to Keep the lighting and décor in harmony
creating a warm welcoming ambiance, hence I chose the bar ceiling corner of our
outdoor porch.
I used a mix of chilli lights (easily
available in the market) with some hanging lanterns combined with some candles
in covered stands (links given below) the sitting arrangements were sofas
combined with taqats adorned with gao takias giving the whole area a cultural
touch. Keeping the weather in mind as it’s a bit chilly but not that much I
used the clay deep pots and burned coal , giving warmth ( a tip for you guys,
you can add a piece of cinnamon wood or sandal wood in your burning coal to add
a sweet scent and aroma, which of course I did! ) As for the menu we had soup
and crackers as the starter, the main course consisted of mostly BBQ, seekh
kababs, tikkas , malai boti ,biryani, bihari qeema ,gajar halwa as desert with
tandoori chai and a salad bar.
This whole experience taught me one thing
that if we plan everything in a discipline manner , shop smart, follow some DIY
décor tips and cook at home, focusing on the décor and creating ambiance , it
brings a beautiful energy to the gathering , in a budgeted amount and the
guests feel especial and a bit of an extra effort can really help our
relationships blossom .
